I've worked for lots of different kinds of companies (financial, realty, training/consulting). I even ran a small development shop for a while. Nothing beats working in manufacturing. This is where all the really cool stuff happens. Where else can you work on a financial statement, a materials purchasing analysis, and a robotics project, all in one week? Well, I guess you if you have to all that in one week, it might be a bit hairy :) But this year I've done everything from configurators to handle custom orders, to production scheduling analysis, to automated wash racks for powdercoat preparation. And next year looks even more exciting with deep integrations between our accounting system and our custom software and a project to build a fully automated powdercoating facility.
